Sarah has been working on the redesign of the Skookworks site. It looks good and will hopefully go live in the next week or so. I’ve been staying out of the design process. After running the site myself all these years I don’t think of new and different ways it could look or could be navigated. I’m comfortable with the way it is. So having a new design is exciting. I’m not worried about the new version being perfect. I figure we can work out any bugs after it goes live. And there will be bugs. There are always bugs.

Today is both my scheduled day off this week and a national holiday. It’s a holiday that I always forget about until it’s almost upon me. Because this is my scheduled day off but it’s also a holiday I should have gotten Saturday off as my SDO. If I’d looked at the schedule at work I would have known that but I rarely look at the schedule so I went to work on Saturday. One of the other carriers was happy to see me because he’d been told that I had the day off and he would be doing my route. I just figured someone had made a mistake (I took a sick day on Friday) so I just shrugged and said he was off the hook. I didn’t find out that today (Monday) was a holiday until midway through my shift on Saturday.

My goals today are making pasta sauce (not because of Columbus – fuck him – I love pasta) and working on art. I’ve been going through my archives and making 11×17 inch posters out of pieces that seem visually grabbing. I’m just printing 2 or 3 of each illustration. It’s both a test to see what grabs people’s attention at the market and what they might buy at said market. I’ve been updating some of the illustrations that I like but that weren’t designed for the 11×17 ratio. Most of the time I’m making minor changes.

Sometimes –

Above is the original King in Yellow illustration.

This is the revised version. I like them both. The original still exists. All the color was added digitally – the original with Photoshop, the new version with Clip Studio Paint. I always create a new work file when I decide to mess around with my art. The illustration is based on the character/concept of the King in Yellow from the stories of Robert W. Chambers. I think my revised version is a better fit to the bleakness of the stories. I do like the original so, maybe, I’ll make an expanded version of it as well. After I update a few other pieces.

Thank you for reading. Be kind to yourself. Be kind to others. Punch Nazis. You know the drill.
