When I watched the movie Harvey I was sort of disappointed when Elwood identitified his friend as a pooka; a fairy. Somehow Harvey seemed a little less special when he was one of a species of somethings.

I notice that it’s only been remade as a television movie. The 1950 version is the only theatrical version. No one’s thought to do it as a teenage sex comedy?

This one went to my Aunt Sylvia. She lives down in California. I chose this card for her after I remembered that my mother had once acted in a production of Harvey. She played the nurse.

One of the hazards of working with dark color on my old iMac is that the monitor runs dark so if there are odd variations in color I only see them when I look at the imagge on another machine. If I were doing this illustration for a client I would have thought to check that. Since we’re all friends here you get to see where my black ink ends and where the digital black fillin begins. Ah well.

I sent this one to John Gerboth. John and I shared a locker for four years in high school. Strangely enough this resulted in us being good friends. Considering that we hadn’t thought much of each prior to high school that’s a pretty fortunate occurance.

And then came the color.

I sent this card to my friend Ninnah. Ninnah and I have known each other since seventh grade. Like I’ve said (I think) I did most of the cards without thinking of who might receive them. I only thought about matching illustration to recipient once they were done. Ninnah has three sons. Somehow this seemed appropriate.

And …. color!

This card went to Maya and Terra, two more friends of mine who also don’t have websites. Nothing wrong with that.

And here is yesterday’s gentleman (and his cigar) after color has been added to his world. He seems unfazed.

This was one of the cards I’d feared wouldn’t be delivered because I’d failed to put enough postage on it. Glenn tells me it arrived just fine.

For the most part I did all the drawings without thinking who I might send them to. There should have been about forty. They were no longer in the pack that they’d originally came in. I’ve got 21 colored. I’m tempted to run both the black and white and the color versions in the same post but … patience. I’m currently in the process of inking the rest of them. Tomorrow I need to go get some new cards. I’ve gotten a special request and I no longer have any blank cards on which to draw.
