Six

Six Days Until

Drawing. Doing chores. Fitting a little bit of writing in. First Cauldron story will be a couple of pages longer than I’d planned. Still on track for January 1st.

Seven

Seven Day Until

While going through the garage we discovered a couple of bedframes, including one with wheels. So we’ve switched out the plywood and cinder block combo that we originally used to create Aged Mother’s bed. Now, if she doesn’t like where the bed is, moving it will be a snap.

We cleaned out the kitchen nook and set up the old table that Nizzibet “antiqued” years ago. The chairs that go with it will need a little work. Being out in the garage has caused the cloth to mildew and that will need replacing. Just need a screw driver and a glue gun for that. I don’t think I threw away the glue gun.

And all our books are up on shelves again. I pulled an old shelf set-up out of the cupboard. Dinged up my thumb putting it together. Much book organizing to do in those moments when I don’t feel like doing anything.

And the lawn must be mowed today. Oh joy.

More furniture rearrangement today. Amazing how many things want to move once they see the other kids getting to stand in new places.

Nine

Nine Days Before

Spent some time this morning setting my drawing table and bringing my “in-progress” project clutter downstairs. I’ve been doing most of my drawing lately on the dining room table and leaving half a dozen projects on various shelves “until I get around to them”. Bleh. So unprofessional.

I’ll still probably do a lot of drawing upstairs. I’ve just now got a workspace downstairs to store pieces when I’m not actually working on them.

After Ever?

Whatever Happened to Felicity Savage?

I’m reading Ever by Felicity Savage. I’m enjoying it quite a bit. It’s fantasy more in the China Mieville (for example) variety than the Tolkienesque sort. Urban, alternate world, non-heroic stuff. It was published in 1998 so I think it predates Mieville. Her bio indicates that she had many other projects in mind. I haven’t found anything published by her since Ever. She doesn’t seem to have died.

Eleven

Eleven Days Before

Taking stuff from the garage to D.I. tonight. Three vacuum cleaners, two weed eaters, maybe some chairs. It depends on what fits in the car.

Twelve

Twelve Days

It’s been raining for a few days now. So there’s a slow moving little creek running from the west side of the basement, through Nizzibet’s new office space and under my desk. I’m wearing shoes to keep my tootsies dry.

Paliki the cat has decided that sleeping outside is no longer an option and can found snoring on Nizzibet’s office furniture.

Skook seems to have gotten bored with Tetris. Or maybe he’s just settling in for winter. He sleeps a lot more these days. I need to get a space cleared out for him in the garage. I’m not sure how Aged Mother will take to a sasquatch in the basement. Better to get her adjusted to Nizzibet, Jaydogg and me before we make her live with much larger species.

Thirteen

Thirteen Days

Not much to do now until Aged Mother actually gets here. We’ll need either her presence or her opinion to do much else. So we wait. Or work at other projects.

Plenty of those.
