Trolling

Writing the scripts for Troll Tales was interesting. It probably would have been easier if we’d thought of Snapper, the young troll protagonist, as a villain instead of the hero. It’s not that he was evil, he was just rude, self-centered, mischievous and a little cruel. You know – a troll. And being the protagonist he had to be rewarded for his bad behavior. It’s funny that I’d had no problem writing the misbehaviors of Moe and Detritus but I had problems writing the regular behavior of a troll.

The dancing fool at the top of the page is, once again, Tumbler.

The hairy gent below him is my own version of a troll.

Troll Tales

Nizzibet and I wrote four episodes for a series called Troll Tales for A. Film. A. Film is based in Denmark, most of the writers for the series seemed to be from the US, the art direction was done in Canada and the animation was done in China. The pay was good and the work was fun. Nizz got the credit for the writing. Apparently 26 episodes of the series was produced but, so far, I’ve never seen an episode. There doesn’t seem to be much available info on series on the internet in English.

This fellow is Tumbler, the sidekick of Snapper, the “hero” of the series.

Minus Seth

It’s the lizards! Not all the lizards. I seem to have left Seth out. That’s not surprising. Seth is the level headed one and therefore less likely to provide a lively expression.

At the top – Aunt Hortense

Middle left – Zerro

Middle right – Missi

Bottom left – Willie

Bottom right – Lamallia

Pulp Heroes

At the top of the page is another sketch of Purdue Granninger. The thing on the right is nothing specific.

Under that is Belial in the process of being redesigned. The original movie version is a crawling sort of creature and I wanted something more active.

A version of Fu Manchu is under Belial. Next to him is a random freak.

At the bottom is a Shadow analogue – the Ifrit. More on him in a later post.
