The symbol at the top of the image is my version of the Yellow Sign used in the Black Seal t-shirt. Then I just used the rest of page to sketch whatever/whoever came to mind. The guy in the hat looks like he should be someone significant but, if so, I’ve now forgotten who he was supposed to be.

This page was random practice sketches. In the top left is probably a portrait based on a photo. I don’t recognize her otherwise. In the top right is good ol’ Detritus.
In the middle left, Trouble Coyote. In the middle right is probably the Mayor from Finnegan’s Brink, the graphic novel that Nizzibet and I may finish before we drop dead. At the bottom are sketches for King Roach adversaries.
Lili and Mara
When I design a character I try to make him/her distinct enough that he/she could be recognizable if depicted naked with a shaved head. I probably only succeed to the degree that I can recognize the characters when I encounter them again.
Detritus, Moe and Lili, Now In Color
I think I used this image for May in my 2003 calendar. Unfortunately I don’t have a calendar handy to check. This was the last image in the sketchbook from 2002. I set it aside for about a year. The next image in it is from 2004. But that’s for tomorrow.

And here we have Detritus, Moe and Lili sketched as if their story took place in the Sentient 39 universe instead of the one it did. A finished, color version of this image will go up tomorrow.
