Michael Browne
The only specific character on this page is Michael Browne. Michael is the older brother of Sallee Browne, who cameoed in Misspent Youths #1. He’s the guy with the flip curl and otherwise buzzed hair. Yes, he and his sister are intended to be older versions of that famous comic strip brother and sister. I’d intended to introduce Michael (and reintroduce Sallee) during the second MY story arc when Moe and Detritus moved to a small town and attended high school.
Some of the Gang
Potpurri
Out in the “real” world the sun is shining on Seattle. Nizzibet and I are housesitting at a friend’s “mansion” (4000 square feet) and that involves regular commutes between there and home to make sure that our cat is fed. Tomorrow is our last day there. We’ve been there now for a little over a week. We’re mostly there to make sure that their cats are fed and have company. The cats are sphinxes, “hairless”, and they’re very affectionate. The male thinks that the best place in the world to hang out is on one’s shoulders. That makes doing artwork somewhat difficult.
Sturge
Meet Leonard “Sturge” Sturgetich, lead singer of the Homesick Abortions. He and his band are exhibit A of why I’d never be able to pick up Misspent Youths where I left off. The me that came up with that band name is so not the me that’s writing this post. I can find him again when I need to but he’s no longer playing to the spotlight.
Maybe That’s Duane

More Basket Case sketching.
Belial on the Road
The Basket Case movies feature the former conjoined twins Duane and Belial Bradley. They were separated as children and now Duane carries Belial around in a large wicker basket. Duane looks like a normal, sorta nerdy white guy. Belial is a head, an arm and a mass of flesh. I’ve only seen Basket Case 2. That one features the Bradley brothers finding love as part of a family of improbable freaks.
That sparked an idea for an ongoing comic book – Duane and Belial would search the country for other persecuted monstrosities. Some would join the family, others would try to kill the family. It would have been a wonderful excuse to draw improbable freaks and hideous violence on a regular basis.
It also would have required getting the rights to the characters and finding a publisher who was interested in the property. That wasn’t something I had the energy for in 1999. I certainly don’t have the energy for it now.
