Why, yes, I have dropped off the face of the planet. I’ve been swept up in a fog of … work. And not the artistic kind. I can’t promise when I’ll be posting regularly again. It might be tomorrow. It might be 2011.

My stepmother passed away about an hour ago. It’s not unexpected. She’s been fighting cancer for the last few months.
I supposed there are wicked stepmothers out there, that cliche must have started somewhere, but Jan wasn’t one of them. She always made me feel welcome. She brought me two brothers and gave me a little sister.
She took so many photographs. We were seen even when we thought we didn’t want to be.
She’s gone to join my father. They were a good match and she’s been waiting for this reunion. She’s at peace.

And so we reach the back cover of the calendar and the last post in this series. This was also the last calendar I managed to do until 2003.
Detritus, Moe and K.Z. visit with faeries and an angel. As I understand it faeries were angels originally. They were the ones who thought Lucifer’s revolt was nothing to be concerned about and so neither joined it nor fought it. So while they fell with Satan’s forces their descent stopped at the Earth. Of course, that’s a christian explanation for faeries. I can’t remember what the original pagan explanations were. Or if they had them.
Everybody needs a place to get away from it all and relax. If that place smells like a sewer then you’re not likely to get a lot of unwanted visitors. If that place is a sewer you’ll likely have even fewer.
Detritus regrets taking Aunt Hortense with him on this shopping trip. Bad enough that Saur Thirteen showed up to trash the place – damned Hortense had to get into a shouting match with the thing.
Not every illustration in the calendar was related to another project or story idea. This one just is what it is. What it is is up to you, the viewer, to decide.
At least one month of each of my calendars from 1990 to 1995 featured a dragon and a boar in the illustration. Blame it on the Chinese zodiac.
The Lizards hang out with trio of Lost Boys – sort of. The fellow on the right is Lone Crow. He’s hanging in mid air. ‘Cause that’s what Lost Boys do. From Wild Shadows another of my multitude of barely begun, not-even-close-to-finished graphic novel projects.
This was the second illustration in the center of my 1995 calendar. This one depictions the Misspent Youths gang fifteen years (1995 + 15 = 2010) after the last illustration. A couple of kids seem to have been added to the mix. How’d that happen?
