Swamp Face

I think I’ve mentioned that I’m a fan of swamp monsters. Swamp monsters seem mostly to populate comic books. I can’t think of a lot of them in movies. Sure, there are a lot of crazies living in cinematic swamps but few animated humanoid masses of goo. I’m not sure why. The only original filmic swamp monster that comes to mind is the Pere mal fait from the old Night Stalker series.

All this is the long winded way of me saying, “Look! A swamp monster!”

Lazy Sunday

The plan today is to have a lazy Sunday. Nizzibet and I are going to see a 10 am show of Prince Caspian this morning. This afternoon I hope to work on some art. Then tonight is our regular dinner and video night with Derek. Our local video store has been selling off its VHS tapes for a dollar so I picked up a stack of older (1950s & 60s) horror movies. I might subject him to one of those.

No stories behind any of the characters sketched today.

Sketches, Sketches

A few old friends on today’s page –
Top left, unfinished, a sasquatch
Middle top, profile of a character that looks like a vulcan or a romulan but isn’t (and the explanation is more than I want to go into this morning).
Top right, some sort of psychotic medieval dwarf
Lower left, the Frankenstein monster I can Henry
Lower right, middlish, an avatar of Y’golonac
and then some sketchy things on the bottom of the page.

Happy Birthday to ME!

Today is my birthday. To celebrate I’m probably going to do the same thing I would if this were any other Friday – go to work, read, send some emails and hang out with Nizzibet. I’m an exciting guy.

New Sketchbook 2004-2007

And now we return to the sketchbooks. This one got started sometime in 2004 and apparently only worked in sporadically. The last few pages have dates of 2007. We’ll get to those eventually.

This page is primarily random sketches. Abbie Guerrecash from Misspent Youths is at the top of the page but, except for the version of Popeye at the bottom of the page, the rest of the figures are one-offs.
