This is the last of the Mansions of Madness sketches. For a look at the final illustrations and the scenario that they are visualizing go buy the book.

Some Cthulhu Mythos entities are more of a challenge to depict than others. Tsathoggua is one of those. Descriptions of him/it are vague enough that he could be depicted in myriad ways. Unfortunately he/it has already been depicted often enough in Call of Cthulhu that I felt like there was a basic form I should stick to. I didn’t want to stray so far away from previous depictions that he/it would be completely unrecognizable. Some of those previous depictions are almost cute. And not very threatening.

I do like how this one turned out. I don’t think he’s cute. Your mileage may vary.

This family had a lot members that stayed hidden of their own volition. Wilfred was the one that was kept hidden. His dietary habits made him less than popular with … well … everybody, actually.

The twins, young, pretty and doomed. Of course they’re doomed. They’re non-player characters in a Call of Cthulhu scenario. If they aren’t doomed today they’re doomed tomorrow.

This is another piece where much of the detail was added in the inking process. This was the place where the remains of unfortunate victims ended up.

Not all the family were hideous mutants. Some of them are just kind of crazy.

More mutated immortal children. Anyone interested in adoption? The kids were apparently quite nice. Mostly.

I like how Nathanial’s expression turned out.

This is a sketch for one of the larger illustrations. It’s an even more vague sketch than I often do because I planned to improve most of the details when I was inking. Jean, the mutant child here, was described in the text as being almost formless.
