I’ve got a commission to do another illustration of George. Good pay, paid quickly. So there will be a delay in sketchbook posting.
Between Sketchbooks
We’re between sketchbooks at the moment. If all goes well I’ll be posting new images tomorrow. If you can’t wait until then, go buy a copy of Basic Roleplaying. It’s my most extensive illustration job in years.
Flip and Impy

Little Nemo in Slumberland is one of the classic comic strips. It features some of the most amazing art ever published. Read on a weekly basis it was probably mind blowing. Read in a collected edition it can get a little dull. All kinds of amazing stuff happens to Nemo and his friends but it just happens. Most of the time it could be happening to anyone. Nemo is never really the agent of any of the action.
Two characters who do tend to stir things up are Flip (on the left) and Impy (on the right). Both characters are basically escapees from minstrel shows. In the original Impy is your basic racist caricature.
Little Nemo is the public domain. Has been for years. It often seems odd to me that no one has picked it up and continued it.
This is also the last page in this sketchbook.
Doctors, Flips and Flying Kaiju

In the upper right is Doctor Pill from Little Nemo in Slumberland.
In the center is Doctor Doom.
On the lower half of the page:Rodan, Gyaos and the Giant Claw.
In three places on the page, Flip, also from Little Nemo.
Spider-Man Villains

Spider-Man #103 was the first comic book I ever owned. Spider-Man has pretty much stayed my favorite superhero. I don’t read the comics anymore. I’m sure I would enjoy them if I found a stack lying around but I’m not interested enough to buy his current adventures. I’ve already read enough Spidey stories. I’m done even if he isn’t.
Just as Spidey is my favorite superhero, his rogue’s gallery contains some of my favorite supervillains. Here are a few of them. First one to name them all gets a No-Prize.
Cuddling with Sharp Objects
Back to Milpitas

There’s a tiny Lili Veracruz in the upper right of this page.
And a partial sketch of Junkamungo, my revamp of the Milpitas Monster.
Atlas Revisited

A page of updates of characters from the shortlived Atlas comics company. No deep thinking went into these sketches, just me trying on versions of the characters that fit my imagination.
Again Megalon

Another attempt at doing a redesign of Megalon.
